Converse’s Chuck Taylor and One Star have, obviously, come a long way from the basketball court. As two of the most popular models of all time, the Chuck Taylor and One Star have been seen in nearly every conceivable form, style and context.
The latest collaborative offering from Converse sees these two legends get a sleek and utilitarian overhaul, courtesy of Japanese fashion fixture Neighborhood.
Even for silhouettes that have been around as long as the Chuck Taylor and One Star, Neighborhood’s motorcycle inspired makeover represents a novel approach. The high-top Chuck Taylor features a combination canvas and black leather (naturally) upper, gear shift inspired midfoot straps, and textual, technical instruction style co-branding.
The One Star is outfitted in tonal black suede, leather lining, midsole co-branding text, and features a reinterpreted take on the chevron/star logo that recalls Kenneth Anger’s Scorpio Rising more than it does Larry Bird.
