G-Shock watches hardly need an introduction. Their appeal is obvious; they are one of the few products in the world that can call itself battle tested, and mean it literally. G-Shock watches haven’t adopted a rugged aesthetic as a marketing angle, they really have been, and continue to be used by deep sea divers, special forces soldiers, and astronauts.
This year marks a milestone anniversary for G-Shock, who have been keeping precise time in the most demanding conditions imaginable for 35 years.
A special, limited edition, collaborative release with Junichi Abe's Kolor, puts the Tokyo based fashion label's unique, mixed materials spin on the full-metal 5000 series, featuring a stainless steel case and bezel and resin band in a distinctive black and gold finish. Subtle co-branding, in the form of Kolor and 35th anniversary branding engraved on the back, and a Kolor imprint on the strap keeper.
The GMW-B5000KL is equipped with the Connected Engine module, which connects to a time server via a paired smartphone and receives radio wave time-calibration signals to keep accurate time anywhere in the world. The wearer can also use the G-SHOCK Connected smartphone app to look up instructions for operating the watch and easily change settings such as the world time and alarms from the app.
