With Korean popular culture finally getting its due, and then some, on a global stage, Converse turns their collaborative eye towards the peninsula, and Korean streetwear originators Kasina. Established in 1997 as a skate shop, the Busan boutique would become a focal point of streetwear fashion in the country, and eventually expand its retail presence throughout South Korea.
The twin pillars of timeless Converse style, the Chuck Taylor and the One Star opt for an elegant, understated design. Black leather uppers offer a classic launching off point, as vivid red accents, contrast stitching, a translucent outsole, and Korean characters at the heel provide subtly applied but visually powerful contemporary design touches.
