Newcastle, England, home of End Clothing was, at one time, one of the biggest shipbuilding hubs in the world. It’s not a stretch to say that that journeys to countless points on the globe began in Newcastle.
This spirit informs the latest Consortium collaboration between End and Adidas. Two silhouettes, the ZX700 Boat and the NMD Chukka started off in Newcastle, but ended up in the Sahara Desert. The natural landscape and a military aesthetic come together to make the timeless, casual style of Adidas ready for a desert trek.
The mid-top construction on both models is, of course, reminiscent of the classic Desert Boot style. On the ZX 700, a smooth leather and distressed suede are rendered in various tones of desert camouflage inspired beige. The olive, honeycombed textile upper of the NMD is inspired by one of the only plant organisms suited for thriving in a desert environment, cacti, while the zippered heel and orange detailing borrow from the classic flight jacket.
