This collaboration between Adidas and Munich label A Kind Of Guise may prominently feature the one of the many Adidas models named after a global major city, in this case the classic New York running shoe, but make no mistake about it, this project is immersed in the two partners’ Bavarian home.
The A Kind Of Guise interpretation of an absolute classic from the Adidas archive turns a running shoe that embodied the mid 1980s into refined leisurewear. The first thing you’re likely to notice is the waffle knit upper. This pique fabric is an elegant choice that also pays tribute to the springy mesh that was an integral component of the original New York. The Dellinger Web, on this supremely fashionable version of the New York, goes from shock dispersing technology to complimentary stitching.
The apparel is no less stunning. The waffle pique used to such great effect on the New York is given room to fully breathe, in the form of a coach’s jacket. It’s honestly such a smart look that Pep Guardiola should, by all rights, be prowling the sidelines of another Bavarian fixture, the Allianz Arena, in this jacket by next weekend.
The crew neck sweaters are of a more traditional bent: hand crafted and embossed with an oak leaf design.
In case you weren’t getting “German” from the expert craftsmanship and attention to fine detail, alone, the collection prominently features oak leaves and acorns, which are a traditional symbol of German loyalty, as well as a visual tribute to the woodlands which make up Bavaria’s stunning natural landscape.
If a size is not listed, it is sold out.
