Nike and Liberty are, at this point, no strangers to each other. The London based fixture is known for its colorful prints and patterns, several of which have made their way onto Nike releases in recent years.
For their Holiday 2015 project, Nike and Liberty reach all the way back to 1933 for an elegant floral pattern by an icon of Twentieth Century design, The Silver Studio. From the late 19th through early 20th century, the Silver Studio’s prodigious textile design output helped shape design in the UK, and one of the studio’s most famous clients was Liberty. The ‘cameo’ floral print that appears on this Nike x Liberty collection is a Silver Studio work.
The print, having been recolored and rescaled for this collaboration, mixes the refinement of the classic, 1933 design with a stark and chic contemporary edge. The black and vachetta tan colorway make the cameo print especially perfect for the approaching winter, when a brighter floral palette might seem out of place.
The Nike x Liberty Holiday collection features modern women’s silhouettes the Roshe One and the Air Max Thea, as well as the perennial favorite Air Force 1.
