Following up on last year’s ‘Nomad’ collection, the latest release from Taka Hayashi and Vans Vault continues to blur the lines between classic vans, casual fashion, and more traditional varieties of walking footwear.
Featuring three silhouettes, the Chukka Nomad LX, the Court Lo Strap LX, and the Court Hi LX, each style presents its own, distinct take on the timeless and uncomplicated style that makes Vans such an ideal canvas to showcase Hayashi’s signature style.
The premium leather and meticulous construction may set it apart, but the Court HI sports the most familiar Vans look out of the three. A sporty, color blocked look features the classic Vans stripe, and the respective red and navy blue color ways wouldn’t look out of place in an original ‘Off the Wall’ catalog.
The Chukka Nomad brings the style of the traditional moccasin to a casual Vans base. Leather laces, a subdued use of color, and a keen eye for detail (check out the pony hair suede heel embellishments) come together to let the silhouette and the materials do all of the heavy lifting, visually speaking.
The Court Lo Strap combines combines one of Taka Hayashi’s favorite design inspirations, Native American iconography, with the Vans passion for customized pattern designs. The patterns are featured on the shoe’s Velcro straps, apart from the leather upper, giving the Court Lo Strap a perfect balance between old school Vans customization and traditional western, native motifs.
If a size is not listed, it is sold out.
