Thanks to their series of collaborations with Nike, the historical roots of textile design firm Liberty have become common knowledge. For the latest Nike x Liberty joint offering, the London clothiers have reached into a part of English history that predates even their own founding, the traditional English garden.
From the pastoral grandeur of the landscape garden to the humble charms of the cottage garden, the English approach to greenery has exerted a massively influential grip on the field for quite a long time, to the point where English garden is essentially interchangeable with idyllic serenity.
Liberty has taken this slice English life into their 2016 collection for Nike. Featuring vachetta leather and a floral print based on a botanical reference illustrations from Liberty’s own, extensive archive, Liberty brings a selection of flowers commonly found in England’s gardens to life in a design that is both bold and delicate, at the same time.
