Ken Griffey Jr. was, during the 90s, arguably baseball's biggest crossover star. There may have been players who could match Jr. in skills, and players plying their trade on better teams (though the mid-90s Mariners were, at their peak, a skilled and exciting side,) but all it took was the word Griffey, and even people with a passing familiarity with baseball would know exactly who you were talking about. In 1996, Ken Griffey Jr was the recipient of a signature shoe from nike, a high top trainer (suitable for the artificial Kingdome turf) bearing his famous uniform number and the livery of the Seattle Mariners.
This "wheat" edition sees the bold design sport a more traditional footwear color palette. Take your pick whether the tan suede makeover is more work boot or baseball glove inspired. We're inclined to favor baseball glove, because even Griffey might have had some trouble covering the Kingdome outfield gaps in boots. If a size is not listed, it is sold out.
