There are many things from 1991 that, on the whole, better off left consigned to history. Saucony’s Grid 8000 CL is, emphatically, not one of those things. For the first time since large numbers of the public were doing the Bartman, this excellent runner is available again. It isn’t difficult to see the fingerprints of the early 90s all over the Grid 8000 CL. By this time, the transition from the simple, mostly nylon running shoes of past decades to a more modern aesthetic was nearly complete. While maintaining the popular ‘space shuttle’ silhouette, the sophisticated mix of materials and technology unleashed the era of the super technical runner. The colorways are also bound to send any 90s nostalgia hound on a quest to find their old windbreakers and Zubaz pants. If these were any more true to the 90s, you would have to order these from a dial up connection and get kicked off before you’re finished when your aunt tries to use the phone. Unlike sneakers, some things are inarguably better now.
