The Flight Lite’s name is self explanatory enough. When the shoe debuted in 1991, it was the lightest basketball shoe available in the Nike range. With the amount of cushioning and support that basketball shoes require just to function properly, a slight loss of ounces can make all the difference in the world. They certainly had an impact on Michael Jordan’s right hand man, Scottie Pippen, who wore Flight Lites during the Bulls’ first run of Championship three-peats.For 2015, Nike is making sure the Flight Lite gets the recognition it deserves, by updating and streamlining the silhouette and outfitting it in the familiar Red and Black colorway that dominated the 1990s. There hasn’t been a Jordan-Pippen combination like this in years.
