Over the years, it seemed like Adidas just couldn’t help but make shoes that were as beloved for their stylistic qualities as much, or even more so than they were for their impressive performance applications.
This didn’t only apply to older, simpler models like the Gazelle, Samba, or Campus, serious, technical footwear like the ZX Series, the Micropacer, the New York and the Rising Star, just to name a few, were as common on the terraces, in clubs, and pubs as they were on tracks and trails.
The Equipment range was introduced to differentiate, right down to the different logos, the pure performance Adidas gear from the lifestyle leisurewear. The Equipment Running shoe was produced in a variety of forms, to cater to the needs of every style of runner. But there was no fighting it, the Equipment runner became as much of a coveted fashion item as any of its predecessors.
With this collaborative effort, London’s Foot Patrol outfits the Equipment Running Cushion with a liberal dose of the casual trademarks that have made so many Adidas running shoes into global icons. Pigskin suede and synthetic nubuck join a more traditionally running oriented nylon and mesh on the shoe’s upper. Fine details like the use of multi colored three stripes webbing, embroidered heel logos, and reflective 3m midsole accents round out the design, and showcase the best of both the technical wizardry and fashion forward sides of the Equipment Running Cushion.
