Adi Dassler was making specialized sports shoes long before the 1954 World Cup, but West Germany's near miraculous upset victory over an imperious Hungary side vaulted the Brand With the Three Stripes into the world spotlight. That's because the Adidas shoes supplied to the Germans featured innovative, removable studs, which allowed for firmer footing in the July rain and mud of Bern, Switzerland.
One young fan celebrating the West German victory was Franz Beckenbauer, who would go on to win every major and minor honor the game of soccer had to offer during his storied career. In fact, the Bayern Munich and West Germany sweeper was such a global icon during his playing days, that Adidas branched into apparel for the first time specifically to outfit Der Kaiser.
The Made In Germany collection from Adidas replicates these classic pieces, in their original rot und weiss colorways.
