It’s no secret that the top sneaker brands of the world are always on the lookout for that something extra in the never ending game of oneupsmanship. To that end, there is one and only one piece of footwear that has gone head to head, or more appropriately, toe to toe, with one of cinema’s most memorable, and lethal monsters, the Xenomorph.
While the titular creatures from the Alien series made short work of almost everyone they encountered, game over man, they met their match in Ellen Ripley. The climatic battle of 1986’s Aliens, featuring a robotic power loader wearing Ripley taking on the massive Xenomorph queen ranks among the most iconic movie moments ever, immortalizing the futuristic Reeboks worn into combat by Sigourney Weaver.
Reebok’s latest Alien Stomper release pays tribute to this famous fight. The two-pack features a yellow and black model that is based in the original Alien Stomper’s construction, but visually references the industrial safety look of the power loader, right down to the P5000 designation on the shoe’s strap. The black, patent leather counterpart recalls the sleek, unnerving, and decidedly slimy nature of the Xenomorph queen. Glow in the dark details and the creature’s original name, the XX121 also lurk around every corner, waiting to jump out at devoted fans.
Even the packaging is a treasure trove of Alien lore. The industrial, loading bay design features the Weyland-Yutani logo, Xenomorph artwork, and some detailed references for true fans of the series.
This is one Alien you'll want to be within 6 meters of. (That's inside the room.)
