To remember Scottie Pippen as nothing more than Michael Jordan’s sidekick would be a tremendous disservice to an all-time great basketball player. No one with the faintest clue as to what they’re talking about would do it. But, just in case anyone needs a reminder, Pippen was an integral part of the Chicago Bulls dynasty that made the NBA their personal playground for the better part of a decade.
Pippen may have made it through the first Bulls three-peat without his own signature pair of shoes, but by 1996, there was no more denying it. The Air Pippen is an aggressive, substantial basketball silhouette, made special by attention to detail, like the visible air cushioning and clear plastic detailing on the white upper.
Personally, we’re glad to see these back, just for the chance to bring up Pippen’s “the mailman doesn’t deliver on Sundays” remark to Karl Malone during the 1997 finals.
