Though the Air Jordan 18 may be one of the most unique silhouettes in Jordan history, the story behind the construction is what truly sets it apart from its predecessors. Designed by Jordan Brand designer Tate Kuerbis in 2003, the shoes was inspired by one of Michael Jordan’s various adorations: cars. As the rubber heel wrap draws inspiration from race car driving shoes, the idea of a Carbon fiber-based monocoque comes from F1 racing cars. Simultaneously, its bold stitching can be related back to Italian dress shoes, making it one of the most luxurious Jordan styles to date.
This Fall, Jordan Brand drops three new Air Jordan 18 color ways in its “Suede Pack” in three tonal lifestyle iterations: “Campfire Orange”, “Yellow Ochre”, and “Racer Blue”. Each style features a monochromatic, premium suede upper, while the semi-transparent midsole and chalky white outsole provide contrast. While the lace shroud covering the lacing system unbuttons to reveal a sleek tongue, the laces underneath come equipped with silver metal tips, boosting the shoe’s luxurious nature. They are then finished off with minimal and sophisticated branding, with just a single Jumpman logo above each toe box and a Jordan text hit on the inner lace shroud, completing a polished and simple, yet dynamic, look.
